Dominic Seldis is back with a brand-new show: Back to Bass-ics. Together with his musical friends, he takes you on a personal and musical journey through his life — from a young boy playing the violin in a small English town to becoming one of the most beloved musicians in the Netherlands. Dominic shares his personal, and sometimes almost unbelievable, stories with his trademark mix of humor, charm, and British flair.
With his double bass always by his side, he performs music from every corner of his diverse career: from classical masterpieces to swinging jazz, from film music to surprising pop arrangements. Expect a show full of virtuosity, laughter, and musical magic — and, above all, an evening where Dominic does what he does best: entertain and surprise.
About Dominic Seldis
British double bassist Dominic Seldis studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In 2008, he became principal double bassist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. As a soloist, he has performed with renowned ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra, and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Dominic also plays with the John Wilson Orchestra, gives solo performances, and performs chamber music.
He regularly appears in music programs on both Dutch and British television. Dominic teaches at the Royal Academy of Music and gives masterclasses all over the world. He has a deep passion for pop and jazz, and has performed on various film and TV soundtracks. He has worked and recorded with artists including Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Seal, the Spice Girls, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Wouter Hamel, and Giovanca. Dominic is also an arranger and musical director. His pop orchestra, The Love Philharmonic, is made up largely of musicians from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
