DAUW: Where percussion and meditation meet

In a world that keeps accelerating, TROMP Percussion invites you to slow down. DAUW is a new series of meditation concerts in which sound, breath, and attention come together. During this edition, you will hear the music of percussionist Claire Edwardes. Claire Edwardes OAM is a charismatic Australian percussion virtuoso and artistic director of Ensemble Offspring, Australia’s leading new music ensemble. She has won the APRA Art Music Luminary Award no fewer than four times and has appeared as a soloist with all Australian symphony orchestras. In 2022, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her lasting contribution to the music scene. With her boundary-pushing concerts and infectious enthusiasm, she makes new music accessible to a broad and diverse audience.

About DAUW

In these meditation concerts, each event begins with a short guided meditation led by Zen teacher Anne Peters. From this moment of stillness, a live concert unfolds, marked by deep resonance, subtle energy, and rhythmic mastery. Performed by a percussionist of TROMP Percussion, the concert offers a sound experience that is both meditative and musically engaging. From singing bowls to marimba, from gongs to vibraphone, the sounds settle over the space like dew, inviting stillness and a renewed way of listening. No experience with meditation or music is required; everyone is welcome. After the concert, there is time to meet, share experiences, talk, or simply remain together in silence for a while.
