De Nachtwacht is the new musical venture from Jiri Taihuttu, who, after his years in film and hip-hop, has discovered a surprisingly warm band sound. With his five-piece group, he creates music that sits somewhere between Dutch pop, soft rock and smooth grooves. Familiar, yet never predictable. His debut album ‘De Nachtwacht’ was released in January and was immediately received with enthusiasm, even reaching number 2 in the Vinyl Chart. De Nachtwacht really comes to life live: carefully built tension, plenty of space for instrumentation and Jiri’s guitar playing that effortlessly shifts between subtle and pronounced. It is therefore no surprise that their first club tour sold out within three hours. With performances at festivals such as Noorderslag and Paaspop, their reputation is growing rapidly. De Nachtwacht is now one of the most promising new acts in the Netherlands.
