Duo Naqqāli, founded by pianist Lucas Politi and mezzo-soprano Zoé Rialan, makes classical music accessible by combining music, storytelling, and education. Their captivating recitals bridge tradition with modern audiences, filled with youthful energy and artistic precision. The name “Naqqāli” is inspired by the Persian art of storytelling, in which a naqqal takes the audience on a journey through poetic tales. In their performances, Lucas and Zoé intertwine music and narrative, making each concert a unique experience. Lucas discovered the piano at 15 and was admitted to the CRR of Paris and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels within a year, where he met Zoé. Zoé began with piano and harpsichord, but found her calling in opera. After studying at the Shanghai Conservatory, she returned to Europe to focus entirely on singing. Together, they create a unique blend of music and storytelling that invites the audience to listen and feel.

Our lunchtime concerts are a true delight—both literally and figuratively! Taking an hour in the middle of the day to unwind with a great concert in the Small Hall really refreshes the day. From piano recitals to chamber music and brass ensembles, the offerings are varied and innovative. Since we believe emerging talent deserves a stage, our lunchtime concerts feature (recently graduated) students, competition winners, and other budding talents.
