While her music shows influences from icons like Billie Holiday, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner, and Chaka Khan, American singer Lady Blackbird has a style that’s entirely her own. Jazz, soul, gospel, psychedelic rock, and pop: she combines them all into one rich sound. She broke through in 2021 with her debut album “Black Acid Soul,” where her powerful, smoky voice truly shines. The album was recorded in the famous Studio B of Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, in the same room where Prince’s “Purple Rain” was written. She did this with a fantastic live band, including former Miles Davis pianist Deron Johnson. In September, her follow-up “Slang Spirituals,” her most personal work yet, will be released, which she will perform in our Hertog Jan Zaal in November!
