Hoewel je in haar muziek invloeden terughoort van iconen als Billie Holiday, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner en Chaka Khan, is de stijl van Amerikaanse zangeres Lady Blackbird volledig eigen. Jazz, soul, gospel, psychedelische rock en pop: ze combineert het allemaal tot één rijke sound. In 2021 brak ze door met haar debuutalbum ‘Black Acid Soul’, waarop haar krachtige, rokerige stem uitblinkt. Het album werd opgenomen in de beroemde Studio B van Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, in de kamer waar ‘Purple Rain’ van Prince werd geschreven. Dit deed ze met een fantastische liveband, waaronder de voormalige Miles Davis-pianist Deron Johnson. In september verschijnt opvolger ‘Slang Spirituals’, haar meest persoonlijke werk tot nu toe, welke ze in november in onze Hertog Jan Zaal laat horen!
