Band Music from the Orient is a four-piece band performing acoustic interpretations of well-known songs in their own unique style. With three lead vocalists and a wide array of musical influences, the band sets itself apart through its ability to interpret diverse genres, ranging from pop music to folk songs and from classical compositions to protest songs. Alongside Turkish, and depending on the concept of the performance, they also sing in other languages such as Kurdish, Arabic, and Greek, as well as performing songs from the Balkans. Perfectly in keeping with the unique theme of the “Turkish – Greek Night”, the band will curate a repertoire of Turkish and Greek songs for this performance. For the Greek section of the evening, the band has invited Greek musicians Kostis & Stelios to make a special guest appearance.

The duo of Kostis Katsibras (guitar, vocals) and Stelios Ladopoulos (bouzouki, vocals) brings the sounds of Greek urban folk and rebetiko music to life, performing songs from the period 1930 to 1960 by composers such as Vasilis Tsitsanis, Manolis Chiotis, Apostolos Chatzichristos, Kostas Skarvelis, and Giannis Papaioannou. Their sound evokes the nostalgia of the gramophone era, combining the warm, acoustic tones of bouzouki and guitar with the vocal style of “primo segondo.” The performance recalls the atmosphere of the rebetiko scene in the wartime period, while also introducing fresh nuances through subtle improvisation and original arrangements.
