Music from the Orient delivers a performance that showcases the rich musical heritage of the Eastern Mediterranean, Anatolia, the Levant, and the Balkans. Founded in 2017 in Eindhoven as a project by Mercan & Bülent Kocuroǧlu, Başak Ebret, and Önder Babur, Music from the Orient spans a wide range of musical styles and languages, including Turkish, Kurdish, Arabic, Greek, Ladino, and Balkan languages. The group aims to connect people from diverse backgrounds and cultures and has organized numerous multicultural events, primarily in Eindhoven but also across the Netherlands.
Guest artist: Mima's Chio Manush Orkestra
Mima’s Chio Manush Orkestra operates from the Netherlands, but is formed by an international group of musicians, including singer Mima Mihajlovic from former Yugoslavia. This trio takes you to Central Europe and the Balkans, with a passionate, raw and sometimes weeping mix of roma, balkan and sevdah songs.
