Packed halls and a young audience — the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra (NedPhO) experienced a golden era with star conductor Lorenzo Viotti. The “Viotti effect” was undeniable: his concerts created a powerful, shared experience. Thanks to Viotti, the orchestra carries a sense of emotion and excitement, sparking something that feels almost revolutionary. This will be Viotti’s final program as chief conductor of NedPhO. Together with pianist Alexandre Kantorow (“This piano star is the real deal” – The Times), he dives deep into the music of Brahms. And in Bartók’s masterpiece, he gives “his” NedPhO musicians one last moment to truly shine.

Pianist Alexandre Kantorow rose to international fame after winning the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019. This young French soloist quickly conquered the world’s major concert halls. The press called him “the reincarnation of Liszt.” With Brahms’ First Piano Concerto, you’ll hear one of the composer’s most personal works. And while Brahms puts the spotlight on a single soloist, Bartók takes it a step further — giving nearly every orchestra member a moment in the spotlight. The result is a brilliant symphony of dozens of musicians, each showing the full beauty of their instrument. And with the ever-passionate Lorenzo Viotti at the helm, this orchestra is more than up to the task.
