British musician Nick Mulvey learned to play piano, percussion and guitar at an early age and made his breakthrough as founder of the award-winning jazz band Portico Quartet. In 2012, Nick opted for a solo career as a singer-songwriter, after which his debut album ‘First Mind’ was immediately nominated for the Mercury Prize. His music combines folk and indie with influences from Cuba, Congo and Mali and he draws inspiration from artists such as Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake. After recent performances at Glastonbury and Pinkpop, it is now time to showcase his latest album ‘Dark Harvest (pt. 2)’ in Eindhoven. The evening will be a mix of new work and older favorites, performed with the worldly musical depth that characterizes Mulvey.
Citizen Pape is the project of Scottish-American singer-songwriter and producer JP O’Grady. His music combines honesty with melodic, layered pop songs with a poetic touch. What started as bedroom sessions in Glasgow grew into a project with a loyal following. With tracks like Powerful and Heavenly Father, he shows how vulnerability and strength can go hand in hand. Tonight, he is the perfect warm-up act for Nick Mulvey.
