What was once a crazy Portuguese folk dance, evolved into one of the most popular genres of the Baroque. Composers such as Falconieri, Lully, Vivaldi and C.P.E. Bach fell head over heels for La Folia: a bass li ne so addictive that even dozens of variations could not extinguish the craze. Star soprano Nuria Rial, recorder player Dorothee Oberlinger and violinist/dancer Yves Ytier present highlights from the repertoire. An infectious cocktail full of temperament, elegance and drama.
