The DOMNIQ Group presents Philip Glass’ Águas da Amazônia in a new interpretation, surrounded by new compositions and soundscapes. Glass’ 45-minute masterpiece, originally written in 1999 for the Brazilian ensemble Uakti, is now revisited in a brand-new arrangement created in collaboration with the composer himself.
Led by Dutch Music Prize winner DOMNIQ (Dominique Vleeshouwers), the ensemble of three percussionists, a flutist, and a string player expands the work into a full-length experience. Around Águas da Amazônia, they build a musical universe inspired by water, with a mix of innovative percussion, self-built instruments such as the slapaphone, rhythms from different cultures, electronics, and scenography.
