Quadrivium Classical Moments

Eigen Quartet

Eigen Quartet, formed in the summer of 2026,  brings together Bartek Petecki (violin), Maarten Visscher (violin), Charles Tseng (viola), and Ruben Bravo (cello) in a new musical setting. Even though the four of them had already played together in larger ensembles (Philips Symfonie Orkest, ESMG Quadrivium’s Ensuite), it wasn’t until a year ago that they got together to perform at the master graduation ceremony at TU/e. What started as occasional rehearsals for a university commission, turned into regular collaboration around an increasingly challenging programme.

The name Eigen reflects the quartet’s shared connection to both music and science: in Dutch, eigen means “one’s own,” while in mathematics and acoustics, eigenmodes describe the natural ways in which a system vibrates—a fitting reference to four musicians developing a sound of their own (and to their technical background).

ESMG Quadrivium is Eindhoven’s student music association and the go-to place for young musicians with a passion for classical music. The society provides a home for both instrumentalists and singers, featuring various ensembles, a choir, a wind orchestra and a symphony orchestra. Quadrivium brings students together to make music, develop their skills, and perform concerts, both within the university community and beyond. With a combination of musical ambition and a close-knit, social atmosphere, Quadrivium is a vibrant society where music and friendship go hand in hand.
