The Royal Scottish National Orchestra is beloved in Eindhoven. The Scots performed here in 2020, 2022, and 2024, and due to their success, they are back again. As the Eindhovens Dagblad wrote, “The Royal Scottish brings out the beauty of English music.” This time, the orchestra once again presents music from England. The Four Sea Interludes from Benjamin Britten’s opera Peter Grimes, perhaps the greatest opera ever composed in England. With Dawn, Sunday Morning, Moonlight, and Storm, we experience beautiful sea scenes in the concert hall; from calm and tranquil to tumultuous and wild.

Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances is his ultimate work: his last, and some consider it his finest. The sweeping melodies, beautiful orchestration, passion, sorrow, and a certain core strength characterize this late work by Rachmaninov. He was 67 when he completed it in America, the country he fled to with his family after the revolution. He himself was amazed that he was able to complete such a great work.

Program

Britten – Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes
Beethoven – Piano Concerto No. 3
Rachmaninoff – Symphonic Dances

On Saturday, October 11, you will be attending a concert with us. During that weekend, the Eindhoven Marathon will take place, featuring various activities and side events in the city center. Additionally, NS (Dutch Railways) will be carrying out track work near Vught, meaning there will be no train service between ’s-Hertogenbosch and Boxtel, and between ’s-Hertogenbosch and Tilburg.

We advise you to plan your journey in advance and allow extra travel time. On the marathon website, you can find up-to-date information about accessibility and parking. Please note: parking at Q-Park Heuvelgalerie will not be available this weekend.
