With an explosion of sound and energy, the Saxophone Ensemble of the Maastricht Conservatory sets the tone for a terrific lunchtime concert. This international group of bachelor’s and master’s students together form a vibrant community of young musicians, driven by artistic curiosity and a passion for both contemporary and classical repertoire. It is a multifaceted performance where music and dance are combined. From the Hungarian folk dances of Ferenc Farkas and the elegant Sonata for Bassoon and Cello by W.A Mozart, performed on 2 baritone saxophones, to the festivity of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Finale from Jazz Suite No. 2.
After the concert
A lunchtime concert is, of course, not complete without a delicious lunch. After the concert, enjoy a flavorful homemade soup and freshly baked bread in the Stadsfoyer. You can add this directly to your ticket!

Lunchtime concerts
Our lunchtime concerts are a delight to experience: both literally and figuratively! Taking a break in the middle of the day to relax for an hour with a nice concert in the Small Hall really makes the day feel refreshing. From piano recitals to chamber music and brass ensembles, the offerings are varied and innovative. Since we believe that emerging talent deserves a platform, our lunchtime concerts feature (recently graduated) students, competition winners, and other promising gems.
