Sven Hammond, together with his Big Band and orchestra, brings a swinging program centered around the legend, The Genius, ‘Brother Ray’ Charles to our Hertog Jan Hall! Ray Charles was a pioneer in the soul music genre in the 1950s, combining blues, jazz, rhythm-and-blues, and gospel in his music. The Sven Hammond Big Band delves into the fascinating life story of this jazz icon and performs hits such as ‘Georgia’, ‘Hit The Road Jack’, and ‘Hallelujah’, along with beautiful arrangements by contemporaries that Brother Ray transformed into timeless classics.
