To Marrakech

To Marrakech is a musical journey through Turkey, Greece, Egypt, and Morocco. This evening presents the fourth installment of the Istanbul Midnight project, featuring the Mediterraneo Band and guest vocalist Salah Eddine Mesbah. The music connects Andalusian elegance, Ottoman grandeur, the folk soul of Rebetiko, and poetic Arabic traditions within a rich makam language. Traditional styles are interwoven with Western instruments to create a fresh, authentic sound. The band, made up of musicians from the Netherlands, Syria, Turkey, Greece, and Germany, offers a contemporary interpretation of Mediterranean makam traditions.

Change to the programme

Unfortunately, due to Dr Michalis Cholevas falling ill, the lecture cannot take place. Instead, the performers will present a more extensive musical programme. The start and end times previously announced remain unchanged.
