Traditionally, the gentlemen of the Storioni Trio present a sparkling program full of diverse chamber music works in various ensembles on their major festival evening. The pièce de résistance is Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet. The composer wrote this in just a few weeks and dedicated it to his wife Clara, one of the greatest pianists of her time. At the premiere, friend Mendelssohn played the piano part (from memory!) and even offered some helpful suggestions. It is one of Schumann’s most passionate, energetic, and infectious works. Horn player Hervé Joulain will once again join the concert, a long-time friend of the Storioni Trio. Viola player Georgy Kolvalev and violinist Tobias Feldmann complete the beautiful lineup.
“Thirty years feels like such a long time, but it has passed so quickly,” says the Storioni Trio. “It feels like just yesterday we were sitting at the corner of the stage in the Kleine Zaal of the Concertgebouw after our first concert there.” Thirty years during which the trio has performed all over the world, in prestigious concert halls as well as in small churches and unusual venues. They have recorded CDs and, most notably, founded the Storioni Festival, which has firmly established itself on the map. In Germany, they wrote: “There were cheers and foot stomping after a […] concert at the highest level” (Süddeutsche Zeitung).
