The newly crowned winner of the 2026 Liszt Competition, Alexander Kashpurin, makes his appearance in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven’s International Prizewinners series. Kashpurin won both the First Prize and the Audience Prize. He was the ideal Liszt interpreter, as the jury described it: “It was moving to see someone who was so deeply in love with the music.” He now joins the prestigious list of laureates, which includes pianists Alexander Ullman, Mariam Batsashvili and Enrico Pace. He will perform Liszt’s Sonata in B minor, S.178, and Carl Maria von Weber’s Piano Sonata No. 2.

The triennial international Liszt Competition, held in Utrecht, has built a reputation since its inception in 1986 as one of the world’s most prestigious piano competitions. Liszt Utrecht is distinguished by the extensive support provided to its prize winners. For a period of three years, the competition works intensively with and for the winners as impresario, mentor, and publicist. Winners are given the opportunity to gain practical experience in life as a professional touring musician, build an international network, and develop both as artists and individuals by engaging with (musical) cultures around the world.
