Wishful Singing & Mars Smith

Wishful Singing is celebrating its 20th anniversary! After more than 700 concerts in 15 different countries, the ensemble is marking the occasion on home soil with a unique collaboration with the internationally acclaimed piano-flute duo Mars Smith. Daniela Mars and Paul Smith are known for their improvisations and captivating, cinematic compositions. The heart of the programme features texts and compositions by Hildegard von Bingen, a versatile genius from the 12th century. Her body of work inspired Wishful Singing ten years ago to delve deeper into Gregorian music. In his compositions, Ola Gjeilo draws on this ancient music, which continues to resonate today. The cherry on top is a piece specially composed for Wishful Singing by Diederik van der Laag, inspired by the medieval hymn Ubi caritas et amor.
