Mabel Matiz - Merhaba - Muziekgebouw Eindhoven 2023

Community engagement

To ensure that all communities feel welcome at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, it's important to build a sustainable connection. We aim to tailor the programming we offer not only for the target audience but, more importantly, with the target audience.

A warm welcome

Muziekgebouw Eindhoven strives for an inclusive programme where everyone feels heard. In 2023, for instance, 43% of Eindhoven’s population has a migration background. To ensure that all communities feel welcome at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, it’s important to build a sustainable connection. We aim to tailor the programming we offer not only for the target audience but, more importantly, with the target audience.

Your World, Your Music

With this project, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven aims to welcome people from diverse (cultural) backgrounds and bring them into contact with one another. Additionally, we strive to reach all communities in Eindhoven. Each group has ambassadors who help shape and provide content for musical activities that are relevant to their community. With the help of these ambassadors, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven’s programmers and marketers engage in dialogue with the respective communities to identify their needs and wishes. The result: a day on which the key to Muziekgebouw Eindhoven is symbolically handed over to the particular community.

This approach has led to the success of events such as Merhaba Eindhoven (Turkish), India Day, and Witaj Eindhoven (Polish). However, our ambition is to introduce many more communities to Muziekgebouw Eindhoven in the coming years.

Music around the world

Based on the Turkish National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven organises the annual event “Music Around the World,” a day entirely dedicated to children from various cultural backgrounds. While adults are often influenced by cultural differences, children do not recognise such barriers. The day kicks off with a musical children’s parade through the city centre of Eindhoven, followed by an open stage, workshops, and other activities for the children at our venue. For this event, we collaborate with the Turkish Professionals Network Eindhoven (TPNE).
