Manu Chao brings summer vibes to THE OPENING

Outside, dark clouds hang over Eindhoven, but inside MgE you wouldn't notice it at all. On August 30 Manu Chao, together with his band, brings a big dose of summer, energy and cheerfulness to our Hertog Jan Hall. With his Ultra Acústico tour he festively closes the weekend of THE OPENING and delivers the first concert of the season!

From the very first songs, the vibe is immediately great. Especially with the well-known hits like ‘Me Gustas Tú’ and ‘Bongo Bong’, hands go up in the air. The audience doesn’t stay seated for long. In the middle of the hall, a group jumps up enthusiastically, while people in the back also get up from their seats to dance.

Manu Chao carries the audience along throughout the entire concert and seems to have an endless amount of energy. The French-Spanish musician became an international star with his mix of ska, reggae, rock and Latin. His multilingual music is known for its cheerful, energetic sounds with socially conscious lyrics, which he also shows tonight.

Between the songs, Manu Chao takes a short moment to share his message about peace. He expresses his hope for peace, not just close to home, but all over the world. Then the music continues again. Song after song is played with the same conviction, as if each one is the last of the night.

This way, Manu Chao proves that in Eindhoven you don’t need sun to create a summery vibe. With his cheerful music, strong message, and infectious energy, he and his band wrap up the festive weekend of THE OPENING. With this sold-out concert, the cultural season officially kicks off!
