MgE presents classical season 25-26
Concert series with big names
To guide visitors through the diverse programme, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven has carefully curated a number of concert series. We also offer an attractive 20% discount on complete series. The International Top Orchestras series brings together impressive orchestras and soloists. For instance, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, led by Wagner specialist Jaap van Zweden, will perform the first part of Die Walküre, while pianist Yuja Wang will take on Ligeti’s challenging piano concerto. Rising stars such as violin phenomenon Timothy Chooi and pianist Seong-Jin Cho will also make an appearance.
In the Baroque Orchestras series, Ton Koopman presents a special performance of Handel’s rarely performed Athalia. The French ensemble Le Concert Spirituel, conducted by Hervé Niquet, will perform Vivaldi’s beloved Gloria, complemented by other masterpieces from this Italian composer.
The Top Choirs series once again features three prominent international ensembles: The King’s Singers present a Renaissance programme, the RIAS Kammerchor will perform a beautiful Christmas programme, and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will pay tribute to Arvo Pärt on the occasion of his 90th birthday. In the Great Pianists series, the adventurous Ivo Pogorelich returns to Muziekgebouw Eindhoven after nine years with works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. In addition, the internationally acclaimed Elisabeth Leonskaja will perform Schubert’s three great sonatas.
Modern music and current affairs
Alongside well-known repertoire, there is also room for contemporary music and current themes. New works by Daniel Wohl and Wijnand van Klaveren will premiere, while modern compositions by Pēteris Vasks, Bryce Dessner, and Arvo Pärt bring fresh perspectives. In the Scherpdenkers series, classical music is connected with social issues. Prominent guests such as Ramsey Nasr and Sheila Sitalsing share their insights, and forgotten composers like Florence Price and Grażyna Bacewicz are brought into the spotlight.
The Small Hall on Sunday series offers an intimate setting where, in addition to classical chamber music, works by the Japanese composer Sakamoto and atmospheric tango music can also be enjoyed.
In addition to these series, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven presents several classical highlights throughout the season. Expect enchanting film music, a fresh take on the opera Don Giovanni by Pynarello, and performances of works by Philip Glass and Nils Frahm.
