Muziekgebouw Eindhoven presents a rich 26-27 classical season: a balance between masterpieces and new discoveries
Programming highlights for the upcoming classical season include appearances by world-renowned ensembles such as the Wiener Symphoniker and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside an exclusive Benelux tour by the Bamberger Symphoniker featuring star violinist Midori. Devotees of vocal music can also look forward to a truly special occasion: a performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor by Collegium Vocale Gent, conducted by Philippe Herreweghe.
Established and unexpected
Director Jack Pisters emphasises the importance of the experience that precedes the very first note, where the collective dedication of both musicians and staff ensures every concert is a unique event. Regarding the quality and ambition of the upcoming classical programme, he states: ‘We are proud of our stage and the calibre of music heard here. We constantly strive for that balance between the familiar and the fresh.’ He invites the audience to be surprised and moved once again by the breadth of what Eindhoven has to offer in the new season.
Boundless richness
For Jeroen Smits, Head of Classical Music, this season holds a particularly profound significance, as it marks the final programme he has curated for Muziekgebouw Eindhoven after 22 years of service. He regards the diverse line-up as a personal gift: ‘Season after season, it remains a privilege to draw from the boundless richness of classical music. To be able to conclude my tenure with such a rich and multifaceted programme feels like a true gift.’ Smits also notes that it is an exceptional season for piano enthusiasts, featuring luminaries such as Boris Giltburg, Mitsuko Uchida, and Lucas & Arthur Jussen, alongside the three Steinway concert grands acquired in 2025.
Series
Alongside the major orchestras and soloists, the season offers room for innovative series such as Scherpdenkers (Sharp Thinkers), where lectures by the likes of Geert Mak and Joke J. Hermsen are paired with music. The top musicians of tomorrow are also given a stage in the International Prize Winners series, featuring the Dutch pianist Nikola Meeuwsen, who won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2025.
Ticket sales for the new classical season officially open on 4 April at 10.00 am. Visitors booking full concert series can benefit from discounts of up to 20%. The complete programme is available to view now at www.mge.nl.
