Students draw about media literacy: first Tech Sketch a success
On Monday, 4th November, we welcomed students from three primary schools in Eindhoven for the grand finale of the project: their own film on the big screen, accompanied by the live band Brass Rave Unit.
“Playing outside is better than gaming,” “Be careful on the internet,” and “Stop cyberbullying”—just a few of the messages expressed in the drawings created by children from the primary schools De Wilakkers, De Groene Vlinder, and ‘t Karregat. The young artists drew their inspiration from a lesson by Meneer Rick, which covered topics such as responsible internet use, cyberbullying, and social media.
The drawings were made on tablets to emphasize the digital theme. Animator Ruben Aldenhoven then brought the drawings to life in a video that was shown on the big screen in the Hertog Jan Hall, with live musical accompaniment by Brass Rave Unit.
Drawing for Freedom
The concept of Tech Sketch is based on our project “Drawing for Freedom.” In that project, primary school students receive lessons on the theme of ‘freedom’ and create drawings around that topic. Similarly, the animated film is shown in the Hertog Jan Hall with a live band. NXP was eager to add the theme of ‘media literacy,’ and digital drawings fit perfectly with that focus.
We look back on a successful first edition. Curious to see how it went? The photos below provide an impression of how Tech Sketch unfolded!
