About us

Connecting through music

Muziekgebouw Eindhoven is a modern concert hall with international appeal. It is an acoustic top location that attracts world-renowned orchestras, soloists, bands, and artists. Every year, nearly 200,000 music lovers find their way to this remarkable building in the heart of Eindhoven.

Connecting through music. This succinctly captures the mission that Muziekgebouw Eindhoven stands for. This mission reflects our reason for existence. We foster encounters and connections between people by providing a stage for a wide diversity of music in our house.

Connection is at the core of all our activities, and it is our motivation to grow. But what do we mean by connection?

Firstly, there is the connection between people. We observe that the changing world (both near and far) has a need for initiatives that unite people and cultures – rather than divide or exclude them. Music plays a major role in this.

Secondly, there are connections within the vast world of music. We see a movement where boundaries are fading, and new connections between music genres are becoming increasingly natural. We also see how music strongly connects with other forms of culture, such as poetry, video, and urban arts. These new connections require us to adopt a new role, a new kind of stage, and new connections with the audience.

Thirdly, when we talk about connection, we also look beyond the arts. We take a broader view and recognize a task (and opportunity) to connect music with more elements of human life: connection with sports; with gaming, relaxation, spirituality, rituals, and celebrations. Therefore, we need to become more creative, more unconventional, and step beyond our own boundaries. By focusing on these three unifying powers of music, our activities gain meaning in the lives of many people. And it is this meaning that drives us.

Inclusion & Sustainability

Muziekgebouw Eindhoven is actively committed to social cohesion and connection. Reaching all residents of Eindhoven is its goal. In this mission, sustainability also plays a prominent role.

In collaboration with other organizations, projects are being developed to engage youth, people with limited financial means, and residents with a migration background in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Groups that might not naturally find their way to Muziekgebouw Eindhoven are warmly welcomed to come and experience the power of music. In this way, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven becomes a warm and welcoming home - of and for the city—a place where everyone is welcome and can be themselves.

From Then to Now

Our history

The plans for a concert hall in Eindhoven had been in the works for decades. After several unsuccessful attempts, the people of Eindhoven finally received the hall they longed for in 1992: an acoustic top-tier venue with international allure. Since its opening, thousands of world-famous orchestras, soloists, bands, and artists have graced its stage. Join us in exploring nearly a century of history of Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.
