How do we look at and listen to a changing world? The West no longer dominates the debate, and the rest of the world raises its voice. Nature protests. And fortress Europe shudders. How do thinkers and artists respond? Who sets the tone, and how do the dissonances sound? Adriaan van Dis embarked on a brain journey and reports on his desperately optimistic outlook. Momo Kodama plays Debussy, a composer who was inspired by the Javanese gamelan, but also Tan Dun and Takemitsu, Asian composers who, though rooted in their own culture, in turn drew inspiration from Debussy.
Japanese pianist Momo Kodama is praised for her “impeccable technique and skill in crystal-clear sounds” (American Record Guide). She has built an impressive career, performing with world-renowned orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Bayerisches Staatsorchester. She has played in concert halls around the world with major musicians like Christian Tetzlaff, Renaud Capuçon, Augustin Dumay, Gautier Capuçon, Steven Isserlis, and Jörg Widmann. Her repertoire spans from classical and romantic works to contemporary compositions. This program is truly tailored to her.
