De Nachtwacht is the new musical venture of Jiri Taihuttu, who, after his years in film and hip-hop, has found a surprisingly warm band sound. With his five-piece group, he creates music that sits somewhere between Nederpop, soft rock, and smooth grooves. His debut album “De Nachtwacht” was released in January and was immediately met with enthusiasm, even reaching number 2 in the Vinyl Chart. Live, De Nachtwacht truly comes into its own: carefully built tension, plenty of room for instrumentation, and Jiri’s guitar playing, which effortlessly shifts between subtle and expressive. With performances at festivals such as Eurosonic Noorderslag and Paaspop, their reputation is growing rapidly. De Nachtwacht is now considered one of the most promising new acts in the Netherlands.
