The Dutch harpist Hedwig Brieffies graduated in 2023 from the bachelor’s programme at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where she studied with Erika Waardenburg and Gwyneth Wentink. In this lunchtime concert, all facets of the harp will be richly represented: from the introspective melodies of C.P.E. Bach to the expansive sounds of Benjamin Britten. Alongside English, German and French repertoire, the beautiful Pour le tombeau d’Orphée by the Dutch composer Marius Flothuis will be performed, and attention will be given to the female composers Germaine Tailleferre and Sally Beamish. This programme takes the listener on a journey through different countries, stylistic periods and genres, and is a tribute to the versatility of the harp.
After the concert
A lunchtime concert is, of course, not complete without a delicious lunch. After the concert, enjoy a flavorful homemade soup and freshly baked bread in the Stadsfoyer. You can add this directly to your ticket!
