You’ve probably guessed it: this British trio plays instrumental jazz versions of Black Sabbath classics. Led by keyboardist Adam Wakeman – son of prog rock icon Rick Wakeman (known from Yes and Black Sabbath) – songs like Iron Man and Paranoid are reborn in bold, energetic jazz sessions full of surprising twists and recognizable riffs. Jazz Sabbath’s self-titled debut album (2020) received rave reviews from both the rock and jazz press, and its special Record Store Day edition sold out within a day. Even the legendary Ozzy Osbourne gave his blessing: “I’m really loving this!” Jazz Sabbath proves just how thin the line between metal and jazz can be.
