The Martin String Quartet consists of four young, dedicated musicians who together create a refined quartet sound. The ensemble was founded at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where they study with Dmitry Ferschtman and Sven Arne Tepl, among others. They are also affiliated with the Netherlands String Quartet Academy. In 2024, the quartet won both first prize and the Grachtenfestival Prize at the Gelre International Chamber Music Competition. In their program, the four musicians explore the question: what is a string quartet? They take the audience on a journey through the raw intensity of Gubaidulina, the clarity of Bach, the festivity of Beethoven, and the original compositions of their cellist Ori Ron. The result is a musical journey in which four voices slowly merge into a single whole.
After the concert
A lunchtime concert is, of course, not complete without a delicious lunch. After the concert, enjoy a flavorful homemade soup and freshly baked bread in the Stadsfoyer. You can add this directly to your ticket!

Lunchtime concerts
Our lunchtime concerts are a delight to experience: both literally and figuratively! Taking a break in the middle of the day to relax for an hour with a nice concert in the Small Hall really makes the day feel refreshing. From piano recitals to chamber music and brass ensembles, the offerings are varied and innovative. Since we believe that emerging talent deserves a platform, our lunchtime concerts feature (recently graduated) students, competition winners, and other promising gems.
