Als straatmuzikant probeerde de Koreaans-Amerikaanse bluesdichter Nat Myers na het uitbreken van de pandemie wat extra geld te verdienen. Toen Myers zijn muziek op social media begon te delen, trok hij al snel de aandacht van Dan Auerbach van The Black Keys. Dit leidde tot de opname van zijn debuutalbum, ‘Yellow Peril’, welke is doordrenkt van blues en folk, maar met een eigentijdse twist. Het album verbeeldt Myers’ reis door Amerika en zijn zoektocht naar zijn culturele identiteit. Bovendien is de plaat een eerbetoon aan blueslegendes als Robert Johnson en Lead Belly. Myers houdt hun geest levend terwijl hij zijn eigen stem en boodschap deelt.

Deze singer-songwriter uit Venlo maakt indruk met zijn gitaar, elektrisch of akoestisch, en zingt in het Noord-Limburgs dialect. Voor Beeker voelt dat als de normaalste zaak van de wereld; je hoeft het niet te begrijpen om het te voelen. Geïnspireerd door artiesten als Steve Earle, PJ Harvey, en Bob Dylan, brengt hij een doorleefd geluid dat intens en onverwoestbaar klinkt. Een artiest die zijn eigen taal en unieke stijl volledig omarmt.
