Eindhoven-based singer-songwriter Woody Veneman presents his brand-new trio: The Nine Wives. Together with bassist Joni Houtman and drummer Lola Heijdt, he brings out the very best of his repertoire. The city of Eindhoven remains a clear source of inspiration for his sound: a blend of gritty electronics, raw rock, and offbeat singer-songwriter songs. At a time when music often feels polished and artificial, the trio deliberately opts for a raw, minimalist approach. This show serves as their album release show, where they present their debut album—an album that is both a retrospective and a reinterpretation of the repertoire Veneman has performed over the past decades, complemented by new material. Inspired by bands like Violent Femmes and The Modern Lovers, Veneman’s songs take on a sharper edge and a surprising, rough-hewn character.
