Does it still need an introduction in Eindhoven? Wouter Vossen, Marc Vossen, and Bart van de Roer—the Storioni Trio—are now a staple on international stages. Every year, they are the heartbeat of the Storioni Festival at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, and once again, they will invite a selection of top musicians to perform the finest works from the chamber music repertoire. This is a festival that has become an integral part of the Dutch music scene.

The concert opens with a work by Jean-Philippe Rameau, performed by Janne Valkeajoki (accordion), a composer whose influence on French Baroque music is undeniable. His work reflects the musicality and refinement of the French court, which is also evident in the arrangements we hear today.

Next, Anton Arensky’s Piano Trio in D minor will be performed by the Storioni Trio (Wouter Vossen, violin; Marc Vossen, cello; Bart van de Roer, piano). Arensky’s trio is a masterpiece of the late Romantic period, full of lyricism, drama, and technical virtuosity, in which the composer expresses his admiration for the great Russian tradition of the time.

The afternoon concludes with Souvenirs de Florence by Pyotr Il’yich Tchaikovsky, performed by Wouter Vossen (violin), Veriko Tchumburidze (violin), Tomoko Akasaka (viola), Elaine Ng (viola), Marc Vossen (cello), and Nil Kocamangil (cello). This work reflects Tchaikovsky’s impressions of his time in Florence and is filled with melodies that evoke the charm and warmth of the Italian city. The piece is full of wonder and beauty, with a rich, lush orchestration that is perfectly suited to this chamber music version.

After the concert, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a treat. This is included with your ticket.
