Duo 12–21 is a guitar duo formed by Portuguese guitarist Bárbara Macedo (2004) and Estonian guitarist Kelly Johannes (2003), both studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under the guidance of Gabriel Bianco. Their work is centered around the idea of duality: the meeting of contrasting yet connected musical worlds. Their programmes combine important works from the classical repertoire with contemporary music and arrangements of works by influential jazz musicians, creating dialogues between different traditions, styles, and generations.
Their repertoire includes works by J. S. Bach and Claude Debussy, alongside contemporary composers such as Steve Reich and Tõnu Kõrvits, as well as their own arrangements of music by jazz musicians including Tigran Hamasyan and Brad Mehldau. Through these encounters, Duo 12–21 explores the guitar as a space where different musical languages can coexist and connect.

Lunchtime concerts
Our lunchtime concerts are a delight to experience: both literally and figuratively! Taking a break in the middle of the day to relax for an hour with a nice concert in the Small Hall really makes the day feel refreshing. From piano recitals to chamber music and brass ensembles, the offerings are varied and innovative. Since we believe that emerging talent deserves a platform, our lunchtime concerts feature (recently graduated) students, competition winners, and other promising gems.
