From fireworks to rapture. Aiden Luo, young talent from the Experience Klassiek Academy, kicks off this lunchtime concert with Sarasate’s Introduction et Tarantelle, a virtuosic showpiece that starts as a lyrical serenade and ends in a dizzying Italian dance. Next up is one of the most beautiful violin sonatas ever written: César Franck composed his Sonata in A as a wedding gift for the Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe. Violinist Karen Su, laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, and pianist Ruben Plazier, trained in Paris in the Russian piano tradition and the brand-new classical music programmer at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, have been performing together as a duo for years. Together, they founded the Experience Klassiek concert series and the accompanying Academy. Between pieces, Ruben shares stories about the music. A lunchtime full of romance, virtuosity, and a meeting between generations.
