The Metropole Orchestra brings its family concert to MgE for the first time, where the orchestra’s versatile sound joins forces with the fresh, danceable music of Joël Domingos. The Dutch-Cape Verdean singer, rapper, and producer grew up surrounded by Cape Verdean dance parties and the music of Billy Joel, Simon & Garfunkel, and African icons such as Cesária Évora. These influences form the foundation of his distinctive style, seamlessly blending Dutch pop, alternative hip-hop, soul, and Cape Verdean rhythms. With his debut album “Dromers Slapen Niet,” Joël emerged as one of the most exciting new voices in Dutch pop music. For this special afternoon, a selection of his songs will be presented in specially created orchestral arrangements, complemented by a musical journey through the Metropole Orchestra’s treasure trove of inspirations.
