The Dutch Student Orchestra is celebrating 75 years and will perform Shostakovich’s moving Fifth Symphony, under the direction of internationally renowned conductor Sander Teepen. Talented pianist Shane van Neerden will also be featured as a soloist in Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and the festive piece Stronk by composer De Graaff will have its world premiere. Taking a month off from your studies to fully devote yourself to classical music – that’s the choice the 90 students of the Dutch Student Orchestra consciously make. For 75 years, the Dutch Student Orchestra has been a place for ambitious students to make high-level classical music alongside their studies. After an intense rehearsal period, the orchestra quickly comes together as one. Every year, the Dutch Student Orchestra gives concerts for a month across the Netherlands and abroad. This 75th edition focuses on the theme ‘Defies’.

For the Love of Music

Community life is an important social and cultural driving force in our society. Few things bring people together in the same way. Associations are without a doubt one of the most effective means against division in society. Both associations and individual enthusiasts or independent practitioners of amateur art are welcome at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. With the project For the Love of Music, we are happy to open our halls to everyone who loves music: creators, artists, and musicians from Eindhoven and the surrounding region.
