The winter concert of the Eindhoven Symphony Orchestra takes you on a journey through different emotional worlds. The opening piece places us in the conflict-ridden atmosphere of Romeo and Juliet. The menacing march and powerful rhythm depict the age-old feud between the Montague and Capulet families. Next, Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations bring a more intimate atmosphere with an elegant cello solo, performed by the young, talented cellist Emma Naegele. After the break, Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony sounds with its compelling palette of passion, melancholy, and longing. The work is characterized by lush orchestral sounds, road melodic lines, and an intensely emotional charge.
