The entire Netherlands holds the Matthäus-Passion in high esteem. And rightly so. It is a concert experience unlike any other. For over three hours, the listener is immersed in the healing sound richness of Johann Sebastian Bach. The monumental oratorio is a euphoric accumulation of beautifully crafted arias, glorious choral sections, and sparkling Baroque music. Bach framed the Passion story of Jesus Christ with music that continues to sound sensationally timeless. Every spring, Bach’s masterpiece rings out as if it’s brand new. Philzuid now collaborates with Italian Baroque specialist and conductor Enrico Onofri. As the solo violinist of the renowned Baroque ensemble Il Giardino Armonico, Onofri has already made a name for himself with his Vivaldi interpretations. More and more, Onofri is establishing himself as a conductor. Great anticipation surrounds his take on one of the greatest Baroque classics. Accompanying him is a top-notch cast of soloists, including Romanian soprano Valentina Farcas and Austrian tenor Daniel Johannsen.
