Duo Líra, founded in 2023, consists of cellist Péter Massányi and pianist Sofija Subbotina. Their shared musical vision is centred on exploring repertoire from different periods, uncovering the stories behind the music and sharing them with audiences. During this lunchtime concert, they perform three works that each showcase a different aspect of the special partnership between cello and piano. Schumann’s Adagio and Allegro alternates a warm, lyrical opening with energetic passages. Debussy’s Cello Sonata, written near the end of his life, is imaginative, full of contrasting moods and infused with the freshness of a sea breeze. The programme concludes with Prokofiev’s Cello Sonata, in which lyrical moments and the feeling of falling in love are interwoven with rhythmic passages, bringing the concert to a festive close.

A lunchtime concert is, of course, not complete without a delicious lunch. After the concert, enjoy a flavorful homemade soup and freshly baked bread in the Stadsfoyer. You can add this directly to your ticket!

Our lunchtime concerts are a delight to experience: both literally and figuratively! Taking a break in the middle of the day to relax for an hour with a nice concert in the Small Hall really makes the day feel refreshing. From piano recitals to chamber music and brass ensembles, the offerings are varied and innovative. Since we believe that emerging talent deserves a platform, our lunchtime concerts feature (recently graduated) students, competition winners, and other promising gems.
