Ukrainian pianist Ivan Petrenko (b. 2008) began playing the piano at the age of four and made his public debut when he was seven. Since 2025, he has been studying at Codarts Rotterdam under Nino Gvetadze. A prize winner at various international competitions, Ivan has performed in venues including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, and at the Chopin Festival in Leiden. He has also collaborated with orchestras such as the Britten Youth Orchestra and Kyiv Camerata. In August 2026, he released his debut album in collaboration with AVROTROS. During this concert, Ivan Petrenko takes you on a journey through a versatile repertoire, ranging from Beethoven’s poetic Op. 27 No. 1 and Shostakovich’s Preludes and Fugues to Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit.

Our lunchtime concerts are a delight to experience: both literally and figuratively! Taking a break in the middle of the day to relax for an hour with a nice concert in the Small Hall really makes the day feel refreshing. From piano recitals to chamber music and brass ensembles, the offerings are varied and innovative. Since we believe that emerging talent deserves a platform, our lunchtime concerts feature (recently graduated) students, competition winners, and other promising gems.
