Hadewych van Gent is a Dutch cellist and singer who has developed a musical language all her own, in which voice and cello merge into a single expressive instrument. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she was named a Bicentenary Scholar and received a full scholarship. Hadewych has won several awards, including a nomination for the 2025 Grachtenfestival Prize, and has collaborated with leading musicians such as Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Plínio Fernandes. In her program, she explores the ancient roots of folk music and demonstrates how these traditions resonate in contemporary compositions. Old melodies and new sounds merge in an intimate performance in which her voice and cello alternate and reinforce each other. The result is a musical journey that brings to life the universal urge to make music.
After the concert
A lunchtime concert is, of course, not complete without a delicious lunch. After the concert, enjoy a flavorful homemade soup and freshly baked bread in the Stadsfoyer. You can add this directly to your ticket!

Lunchtime concerts
Our lunchtime concerts are a delight to experience: both literally and figuratively! Taking a break in the middle of the day to relax for an hour with a nice concert in the Small Hall really makes the day feel refreshing. From piano recitals to chamber music and brass ensembles, the offerings are varied and innovative. Since we believe that emerging talent deserves a platform, our lunchtime concerts feature (recently graduated) students, competition winners, and other promising gems.
