The Eindhoven Harmony Turkish Music Choir, founded in 2020 by Sükrü Deksizer, aims to promote classical Turkish music in the Netherlands. The choir now consists of 40-45 members from diverse backgrounds, coming together to sing and make music. Conductor Ugur Akbaba, born in Turkey, also plays the Kanun, a string instrument dating back to the 19th century BC. He began his musical training at the age of eight and performed for many years in Turkey and beyond. Tonight, he and the choir pay tribute to the iconic Turkish singer Müzeyyen Senar. Known for her powerful voice, she performed for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and mentored many artists, leaving a lasting legacy in Turkish music.
For the Love of Music
Community life is an important socio-cultural engine of our society. There is little else that connects people as much. The association is undoubtedly one of the most effective means against division in society. Both associations and enthusiasts, as well as independent practitioners of amateur art, can turn to Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. With the project “For the Love of Music,” we are pleased to make our venues available to everyone who loves music: creators, artists, and musicians from Eindhoven and the surrounding region.
