“My violin is an old, living soul full of stories. I had to earn its trust, but after three months, it completely opened up to me. Since then, it has allowed me to tell all the stories I want,” says Veronika Eberle about her exquisite Stradivarius, ‘the Dragonetti’ from 1700.
In this concert, the young German violinist will interpret Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto, ‘In Memory of an Angel,’ which conveys the poignant tale of a young girl’s death.
Chef-conductor Duncan Ward will further explore musical narratives with Schubert’s beloved ‘Unfinished Symphony’ and enigmatic orchestral music by his compatriot Edward Elgar. In the Enigma Variations, Elgar masterfully portrays his dearest friends through symphonic sounds that continually move and inspire.
