Boris Giltburg traveled with us to the Steinway factory in Hamburg specifically to select three grand pianos for Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. Tonight he performs on two of them during his recital in the Main Hall, but before the main event, we offer you a unique look behind the scenes at Steinway during an exclusive “XXL” pre-concert talk.
Join us before the concert in the Small Hall to meet our third new Steinway and discover what makes this world-renowned grand piano brand so special. How is a Steinway actually built? Following opening remarks by Muziekgebouw Eindhoven director Jack Pisters, guest of honor Michel Brandjes takes the stage. Brandjes is a world-famous Steinway technician who prepares concert grands for the greatest pianists on earth—nobody is better suited to explain what makes this Ferrari of instruments so extraordinary.
To top it all off, master pianist Boris Giltburg will play this Steinway as well. A unique opportunity to admire all three grand pianos in a single evening!

Enjoyed this special XXL pre-concert talk? Up next is Boris Giltburg’s recital in the Hertog Jan Hall. Tonight, Giltburg will play two of the new grand pianos for the very first time since their arrival at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven: one before the intermission, and one after. In 2013, the Russian-Israeli pianist won one of the world’s most demanding music competitions, the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. He has since built a major international career. Boris Giltburg summons all his expressive power for a program spanning from Bach to Rachmaninoff—a true cross-section of the grand piano repertoire.
