Following the arrival of three new Steinway & Sons concert grand pianos for the Hertog Jan Hall and the Small Hall, MgE has now also welcomed a new Yamaha concert grand to M. Renowned for its exceptionally wide tonal palette, the instrument is ideally suited to jazz, pop, contemporary music and crossover performances. The festive presentation will be given by Dutch pianist and composer Matteo Myderwyk. During this special concert, he will perform music from his new album “Nocturnal Blues:” a collection of impressionistic nocturnes inspired by the night and the sound worlds of Debussy and Ravel. With his adventurous playing style, he will showcase everything the new Yamaha concert grand has to offer.
The arrival of this new instrument was preceded by a carefully considered selection process. Together with Turkish-Dutch pianist and composer Elif Murat, MgE travelled to Hamburg to select one instrument from several Yamaha concert grands. The choice fell on a piano with an exceptionally versatile character, making it a wonderful complement to the venue’s Steinway & Sons concert grands. Throughout the selection process, MgE was supported by Van Hoorn Piano’s, its trusted partner for the tuning and maintenance of its concert grands. The purchase of the new Yamaha concert grand was made possible by the Municipality of Eindhoven, whose support helps further strengthen MgE’s musical infrastructure.
