The Eindhoven Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year with a lively program from “the New World.” The concert opens with ‘Sing, Sing, Sing’ by Louis Prima/Benny Goodman, in an exciting arrangement by conductor Quentin Clare. George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto, typically American from start to finish, is one of his most performed works. Dvořák’s 9th Symphony “From the New World,” composed during his stay in the USA, is part of the “core repertoire” of classical music. The talented 15-year-old pianist David Kooi, winner of multiple competitions, will perform Gershwin’s Piano Concerto. David studies with Frank van de Laar at the Sweelinck Academy in Amsterdam.
Program
Prima/Goodman – Sing, Sing, Sing (with a Swing)
Gershwin – Piano Concerto in F
Dvořák – Symphony No. 9 in E minor, “From the New World”
For the Love of Music
The community life is an important social and cultural engine of our society. There is little else that connects people in such a way. The association is undoubtedly one of the most effective means against division in society. Both associations and enthusiasts, as well as independent practitioners of amateur arts, can find a home at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. With the project For the Love of Music, we are pleased to make our venues available to everyone who loves music: creators, artists, and musicians from Eindhoven and the surrounding region.
